If you use HDLoader, I strongly suggest you load your games onto the hard drive from a computer using WinHIIP. ![]() I dont remember the details, but in my case it required either screwing around with the internals of my PS2 or buying extra stuff to enable it, neither of which I was going to do. There are various HDLoader like programs available out there, with better features and compatibility, but most require some sort of exploit to be used. ![]() The speed increase varies between games, and not all games are compatible, but you could see a 200 speed improvement (GTA3 loads in about a third of the time). In order to transfer saves from a PS2 to your PS3 you will need a PS2-USB adapter like this one. I have not timed the load differences between PS2 games on a PS2 and PS2 games on a PS3, but I havent noticed a big disparity either, if it does work faster in a PS3 it does not seem to be a large delta between them. It may be some time, if ever, before homebrew such as HD Loader will ever be possible via the PS3, as Sony has frowned upon HD Loader use as software piracy. Just keep looking, second hand stores may have a few in your area locally, amazon, ebay, game sites are all the usual suspects. Without it, there is nothing for your hard disk to physically attach to. ![]() You might find that any given titles load times from the disc however are not interminable, but it is tough to go back to once youve experienced such quick speeds via HDL. ![]() The thing with HD Loader is that almost every game with it becomes extremely fast on the loading, so it is of course desirable to use when you can for that reason.
